I have researched and reviewed a heck of a lot of acne treatment and skin care products or systems over these past few years and what I've learned about acne treatment products is that their effectiveness is for the most part contingent on each persons particular circumstances. As a surprising yet all too common example, for a person who's experiencing mild acne due to poor basic hygiene, a simple bar of soap is most likely the solution.

So if this is a simple example of this concept, Neutrogena is the most complex example of how this concept can be applied. Let there be no doubt about it but that the ingredients found in Neutrogena Skin ID products are proven effective acne therapies. Also let there be no doubt that for the vast majority of acne sufferers, the way Neutrogena Skin ID goes about marketing what they have is very much hype.

My gripe isn't that Neutrogena Skin ID is not effective because there can be no doubt that there are uncountable numbers of people who are using it successfully. My gripe is that it's marketed as some kind of scientific “end all” of acne treatments because its not. Of course there are different skin types but in the end they aren't “all that” different. Also I have always felt, as many of my contemporaries do, that if an acne treatment is working but is causing some unwanted side effect, simply try using less of it.
